The Michoacán forest , near by Morelia, is the winter home for millions of monarch butterflies that travel thousands of miles from Canada and United States to Mexico.

Day 1: Departure from Phoenix airport . Arrive into Guadalajara in the evening. Overnight in Guadalajara (Round trip land transportation from Green Valley and Tucson to Phoenix Airport is included; by private motor coach). Lunch and dinner on own.
 
Day 2: After breakfast (included) we will  visit some of the most magnificent colonial buildings full of history and art; you will have a chance to visit the worldwide famous mural “The Man on Fire” by Orozco. After Lunch we will take a Guadalajara City Tour. Overnight in Guadalajara. Lunch & Dinner on own.
 
Day 3:
After breakfast (included), check out the hotel and we will take our motor coach to San Miguel de Allende, world famous colonial town. We will tour San Miguel de Allende with plenty time to shop around. Check in to hotel. Overnight in San Miguel de Allende. Lunch & Dinner on own.
 
Day 4: After breakfast (included), we will visit Guanajuato City and Dolores Hidalgo. We will return  to San Miguel de Allende for dinner. Overnight in San Miguel de Allende. Lunch & Dinner on own.
 
Day 5: After breakfast (included) check out of the hotel and be ready to continue our trip to the monarch butterfly sanctuary. Check in at the Hotel. Overnight in Morelia. Lunch & Dinner on own.
 
Day 6:
After breakfast (included), tour of Morelia City, one of the most beautiful colonial cities of México. We will visit the gorgeous town of Paztcuaro and the Janitzio Island; and Santa Clara del Cobre where artisans work wonderful copper crafts. Overnight in Morelia. Lunch & Dinner on own.
 
Day 7: After breakfast (included), check-out of hotel and be ready to return to Guadalajara. On our way back we will stop at the wonderful town of Tlaquepaque, where you will find beautiful artisans shops and mariachis. Check in at the Hotel in Guadalajara. Farewell dinner (included). Overnight in Guadalajara. Lunch on own.
 
Day 8: After breakfast (included), check out of hotel and be ready to fly back to Phoenix, where we will continue to Green Valley by private motor coach.

Colonial Extended Tour

February 2 - 11, 2009

Day 1: Departure from Phoenix airport. Arrive at Guadalajara in the evening. Overnight in Guadalajara (Round trip land transportation from Green Valley and Tucson to Phoenix Airport is included, by private motor coach). Lunch and dinner on own.

Day 2: After breakfast (included) we will  visit some of the most magnificent colonial buildings full of history and art; you will have a chance to visit the worldwide famous mural “The Man on Fire” by Orozco. After Lunch we will take a Guadalajara City Tour. Overnight in Guadalajara. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 3: After breakfast (included), check out of hotel and take our motor coach to Uruapan. There we will visit a Mexican wonder, the Parque Nacional, a ecological reserve that you can walk around and enjoy every minute of; a place too beautiful to describe. After Lunch in Uruapan we will continue to the gorgeous town of Paztcuaro where we will enjoy the view of the lake and Janitzio Island. Overnight in Patzcuaro. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 4: After breakfast (included), Paztcuaro Tour and  continue to Santa Clara del Cobre where artisans work wonderful copper crafts. We will continue to Morelia. Tour of Morelia City, one of the most beautiful colonial cities of México. Check into Hotel. Overnight in Morelia. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 5: After breakfast (included), be ready to visit the monarch butterfly sanctuary. To visit the sanctuary you would need to ride a horse or take a hike, your choice. Or you can spend the day at your leisure in Morelia.  After the visit to the butterflies we will return to Morelia.

Overnight in Morelia. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 6: After breakfast (included) check out of hotel and take our motor coach to San Miguel de Allende, world famous colonial town. Check into hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in San Miguel de Allende. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 7: After breakfast (included), San Miguel de Allende Home Tour. This tour is conducted by the American Colony and all the monies are for local charities (home tour fee included) Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in San Miguel de Allende. Lunch & Dinner on own.

Day 8: After breakfast (included), Check out of hotel and continue to Guanajuato, world famous colonial town. Check into hotel. Guanajuato City Tour. Afternoon at leisure. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Guanajuato. Lunch on own.

 Day 9: After breakfast (included), check out of hotel and be ready to return to Guadalajara. We will spend our afternoon in Tlaquepaque, for shopping or just enjoy the mariachi music and a margarita. Overnight in Guadalajara. Lunch & dinner on own.

Day 10: After breakfast (included), check out of hotel and be ready to fly back to Phoenix, where we will continue to Green Valley by private motor coach.

End of the journey.

VERY IMPORTANT: These tours require that you be fit enough to participate in walks, climb stairs and take a couple of hikes.

San Miguel de Allende is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the country, and is the hometown of many famous artists. Guanajuato is a real jewel of Mexican architecture, with narrow stone streets full of legends and magnificent buildings.
